Frederic Chopin's birth place in Zelazowa Wola
Chopin was born in the outbuilding of the manor of Count Skarbek in Zelazowa Wola, near Sochaczew, about 50 km west of Warsaw. The manor no longer exists but the outbuilding was rebuilt and is currently called the little Manor. It was first reconstructed in the interwar period and then again after WWII and was given the form of a traditional Polish gentry's manor house. The furniture, textiles, engravings and musical instruments come from the times of Chopin. Every year in spring and summer, Sunday piano recitals are given in Zelazowa Wola.
The manor is surrounded by a beautiful park from the interwar period. It covers over 7 hectares and could be called a botanical garden. This picturesque landscape is completed by the Utrata River flowing through the park.
